Rubavu
Sandy beaches on Lake Kivu, sunset boat trips and the start of the Congo Nile Trail.
About Rubavu
Rubavu (often still called Gisenyi) is Rwanda’s lakeside resort town, about three hours from Kigali. The lakefront road is lined with hotels and cafés, and the water is safe for swimming.
Take a boat to the islands and the hot springs, visit the fishermen who sing as they row out at dusk, or start the Congo Nile Trail south towards Karongi by bike or on foot.
