Kigali
A green, hilly capital with lively restaurants, art and markets, and the memorial that tells Rwanda’s story.
About Kigali
Most visits start in Kigali. The city is spread over hills, so neighbourhoods feel distinct: Kiyovu and Nyarutarama are quiet and leafy, Kimihurura and Kacyiru have most restaurants, and Nyamirambo is the place for an evening walk and street food.
Plan a morning at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, browse Kimironko market, and find an art gallery or a coffee tasting in the afternoon. Moto taxis are quick for short trips; agree on the price first and always wear the helmet.
