Nyungwe
Ancient montane rainforest with chimpanzees, a canopy walkway and waterfalls on the trails.
About Nyungwe
Nyungwe National Park covers the mountains of south-west Rwanda. The main road crosses the forest, with the Uwinka visitor centre in the middle and lodges near Gisakura and Kitabi.
Chimpanzee tracking starts before dawn; the canopy walkway and waterfall trails suit any time of day. Expect rain in every season and bring a warm layer: the forest sits above 2,000 metres.
